Seven of Pentacles/Disks

Upright/Well Dignified: When the Seven of Disks pops up in a reading, it’s usually telling you that it’s a good time to take a momentary breather and take a look at what you’ve achieved so far. While the Crowley Thoth card is referred to as “Failure” and many other occult decks call it “Success Unfulfilled” I tend not to see it as such. The Crowley Thoth makes me feel that someone’s jumped the gun a little and that the decision has already been made when this may not necessarily be the case at all. It shows up when you’re trying to decide whether to follow through on a distinct course of action or to abandon it for another path entirely. With the Rider-Waite deck, there’s a sense that there’s been effort put into the project and that effort may very well reap rewards if done carefully.

Whether going with the Rider-Waite or the Crowley Thoth, there’s a strong need for evaluation of what has occurred up to this point and how things need to happen from here on in order to achieve some sort of solid success. There’s still ways for things to go wrong so there is a certain amount of risk here, but recognising this and looking at ways of neutralising them is recommended here as there’s a good chance that something could appear that makes things a lot more complicated.

Whether using decks of the Crowley Thoth variety or a deck similar to the Rider Waite, both are telling you that whether you think you’ve already failed or that there’s a good chance of success, you know what success looks like. The next step is to look at your situation and figure out how to get from your current situation to that point where you’re able to get what you’ve been looking for.

Reversed/Ill Dignified: Here, at the point where the Seven of Pentacles has been reversed, there’s a pretty good chance that what you’ve decided is a good plan of action is based on an idea of success that you’re going to find a lot more difficult than first thought. That’s not to say what you want to achieve is impossible, merely that it might not be the best time to try at the moment. The plan needs a lot more tweaking than you my realise and launching it before the situation is ideal is not generally a good idea as it may make things worse than your original position. Long story short: don’t do anything rash because there’s a good chance that you’ll end up looking stupid.

There is a strong sense of dissatisfaction here, much like the upright Seven. The difference here is that you’re not able to see the big picture in the first place. With things obscured, it can be difficult to figure out what needs to happen and the correct path of logic to follow in order to ensure that what needs to happen, does indeed happen.

Whether right way up or reversed, the Seven of Disks is telling you to take a breather and look at things as a whole. The big picture may not be what you initially thought.

Seven of pentacles reversed was the outcome card in a Celtic Coss spread.

I am in a mid-life crises concerning a dead end job and a troubled marriage. Te first two cards were the Queen of Pentacles crossed by the Aeon (XX).

Powerful reading: five major arcana cards; Empress (4) The Fool (7), Death (8), and the Sun (9).

I have been throwing the Tarot for over thirty years, but for the past dozen years, I have generally only consulted the Tarot once or twice a year — only when I am really in need of some inspiration.

I could use some help with the interpretation of this reading.

Firstly, please forgive my late reply in this but it has been a little while since I’ve been able to get back to my computer.

So you’ve got the Aeon crossing the Queen of Pentacles. This very definitely represents your current situation, but also gives you a little clarity as to which of these two things needs to be dealt with first. While there are issues with the wife, part of the problem is that there is so much stress caused by the job that at least part of it trickles home. With the Aeon crossing the Queen, it strikes me that there is some sort of resistance to the change necessary to getting a new job. All of that energy is building up as stress and there could be a few unhealthy ways that it’s being released. Looking at the ways that you deal with stress also can’t hurt the relationship with your wife.

I’m sorry that I can’t help you more, but as I don’t have all of the details, nor am I sure which particular deck you’re using, I’m limited as to how much help I can be.
