The Aeon/Judgment

Upright/Well dignified: In a lot of senses, this card can be seen as “the morning after” and figuring out where to go from here, as many things might be coming to a close as other things open, similar to the Death card.  The difference is that here, the change is not only permanent, but also an inevitable part of your life, due to actions in the past. This might not be the case for the outer world, but you personally are possibly seeing things in a totally different light.

Whether it’s about rebirth or just old fashioned resurrection, the Aeon is a card that tells you that there are huge things coming. It isn’t merely a card of change, but of things from your past coming to light and draws focus on how these things create your future. This can be an extremely easy transition, or one of the most painful things to ever happen to you. If this card comes up in a reading, it’s time to get ready to deal with what your history has created. There might be things in your personal history that are no longer serving you and need to be removed. Should this card appear, it might be time to deal with those things, if you haven’t already started doing so.

A lot of the meaning for this card can come through simply from the element of this card, Fire. This is an element used all over the world as a purifier, often in very much a literal sense. Things are exposed to flames to get rid of impurities and in this particular card, the same is happening. The fire burns away all of the “impurities” or the unnecessary parts that won’t serve you in the next stage of life, as it is definitely coming. Some sort of debt has been sorted out, whether “karmic” or simply something in the day-to-day that has needed to be worked through.

Reversed/Ill Dignified: There is a strong possibility that your past is catching up with you and as a result, you’re going to be in a very uncomfortable place. The difference here between the upright and the reversed card is that there is no moving forward. There is just the past coming back to bite you in the ass. This card reversed is the reminder that those that don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat the same old shit that they thought that they’d moved on from. You might feel trapped in a situation but stay there as it seems to be all that you know. The problem is that you’re refusing to move on and look to the future. Your history could very well be trapping you in a place that you don’t want to be anymore, but you don’t know how to break away from the old structures that keep you where you are.

Alternatively, you might be itching to move on, but haven’t fully integrated what the experience was trying to teach you. Moving on from something before you’ve truly learned the life lesson that you’re trying to move on from isn’t a good idea as it will come up again and again until you finally figure out why it’s there. It seems like either way, the next stage of whatever you’re doing isn’t going to appear until you figure out what it is that you keep on missing. This can be a tough one at best.
